WHY THE Y DAY CAMP FUN IS IN YOUR FUTURE YMCA Day Camp offers a wide range of engaging summer day camp options that accommodate all families You ll find programs convenient to home work and programs that meet your child s interests abilities Children can enroll in just a few weeks of camp or spend the entire summer with us New experiences skill building a sense of community and lasting friendships are all an integral part of YMCA Summer Day Camp Weekly themed activities allow campers to create arts crafts explore science technology swim go on field trips appreciate nature and better understand our many cultures Campers will build their self confidence appreciate teamwork sportsmanship all while gaining independence as they nurture their spirits challenge their minds and strengthen their bodies Kids will explore diverse interests and have a lot of fun along the way The Y works to help youth discover their full potential by providing opportunities to learn grow and thrive amidst caring supportive adults These experiences are grounded in a set of objectives that characterize all of the YMCA Summer Day Camp programs Through the Y s day camp program kids participate in fun educational activities that help them with RELATIONSHIPS We facilitate relationships with and among youth creating a space for them to make new friends and interact with supportive staff role models ACHIEVEMENT We provide thoughtful program activities to help youth gain knowledge develop new skills build confidence and discover themselves BELONGING We provide a safe inclusive environment so that every youth feels welcome and finds a place to belong YMCA CORE VALUES Learn how to incorporate the values of honesty respect responsibility and caring into everyday activities 1

Our staff aren t just counselors they re mentors and most importantly role models We take pride in the quality commitment of our staff who are mostly teachers and college students All staff participate in a comprehensive training program to prepare them to care for your child plus they are certified in First Aid CPR Counselors at the YMCA are caring energetic responsible people dedicated to making sure each camper has an amazing summer camp experience FUN YMCA campers stretch themselves physically and creatively Kids play games read create books and write poetry They participate in science experiments solve puzzles craft art and perform music shows Parents say their kids come home tired dirty and smiling frequently humming a new camp cheer WHY THE Y DAY CAMP YOUR CHILD IS IN GOOD HANDS ACTIVITIES Day Camp with the Y provides kids age 5 12 with supervised activities that teach core values conflict resolution leadership skills social responsibility and more Campers have fun while they develop friendships better their health enhance literacy develop skills gain independence and appreciate teamwork 2

SUMMER DAY CAMP DATES May 25 August 14 2020 Summer Day Camp Hours 9 00 am 4 00 pm Campers may be dropped off as early as 7 00 am picked up by 6 00 pm for no additional charge Weekly schedules are provided at the beginning of each session and families are encouraged to review them with their child Our staff provides a wide variety of daily activities that are age appropriate recreational enriching and fun We focus on education through STEM and reading empowering creativity through art and encouraging physical activity with sports swimming Throughout we instill the YMCA core values of caring honesty respect and responsibility ARTS CRAFTS CHARACTER COUNTS During art time children discover new skills talents through art in a welcoming environment where they feel comfortable to express themselves Caring honesty respect and responsibility our YMCA Core Values are all taught in Character Counts through group games and self reflecting activities SPORTS Children will build confidence discover their personal best and develop sportsmanship while learning the fundamentals of sports STEM Developing critical thinking learning how to fail and working successfully on a team are all traits we focus on in our STEM specialty Children will explore the wonderful world of science technology engineering and math READING Children will be encouraged to read and work towards school reading goals Designated reading time will take place during aftercare at each of our sites 3 SWIMMING Children will have the opportunity to swim and have fun during recreational time in our pool FIELD TRIPS Our campers love trips From local walks around the community learning about different animals at the zoo and fun museum trips we keep our campers engaged all summer We coordinate trips with the weekly themes so campers experience what they re learning simultaneously See page 10 for rates locations

YMCA SPECIALTY CAMP Give your kids a HANDS ON EXPERIENCE YMCA Specialty Camps provide a deep focus on specific topics Campers experience and explore with hands on engagement and learning opportunities ARMBRUST YMCA ONLY MASTER CHEF Ages 5 12 We ll engage all five senses as campers learn the art of the kitchen Activities focus on the basics of safety nutrition and enjoying the delicious outcomes of a carefully crafted meal JUNE 8 12 BUILD IT Ages 5 12 We ve engineered a whole new kind of camp With activities focused on understanding the process of building wonderful things campers will come away with a new appreciation for the built world around them JUNE 22 26 WACKY WATER Ages 5 12 The Earth is 70 water so we might as well have a little fun with it Campers will spend their days learning about H2O understanding its importance and of course how to put it to good use in a water balloon JULY 13 17 SPECIALTY CAMP RATES Member 200 week Non member 250 week One time registration fee 25 child 5

YMCA CAMP PLATTE Give your kids an AMAZING OUTDOOR EXPERIENCE YMCA Camp Platte is held at Platte River State Park and offers four one week sessions each summer You can send your camper for one week or any combination of weeks This camp provides different options for kids aged 6 15 years old Campers will participate in games sports crafts nature activities horseback riding spray park and more NATURE BUDDIES Ages 6 7 Children will learn about the world around them through games art and activities focusing on friendships and Mother Nature Campers will explore nature along the camp trails in the great outdoors enjoy crafts paddle boats archery spray park naturalist programs about reptiles and camping Member 215 week Non member 240 week RIDERS Ages 8 12 This camp is designed for children who have limited or no riding experience but a love of horses Campers will ride horses three times each week and learn saddling horse care and horsemanship Riders will also participate in camp activities such as shooting range hiking spray park naturalist program crafts and games Member 250 week Non member 275 week WILDERNESS PALS Ages 8 12 Children will explore the outdoor wilderness by hiking learning about animals and developing outdoor survival skills Campers will challenge themselves by gaining an understanding of teamwork build mutual trust and increase self esteem Pals will also participate in camp activities such as horseback riding shooting range hiking spray park naturalist program crafts and games Member 225 week Non member 250 week SHOOTING SPORTS CAMP Ages 10 15 This camp includes archery riflery pellet guns and tomahawks It starts with safety and basic techniques then progresses to advanced techniques shooting competitions Campers will also participate in camp activities such as horseback riding hiking spray park naturalist program arts crafts and games Member 240 week Non member 265 week 7
