A PLACE TO BE A PART OF A TEAM YMCA OF GREATER OMAHA LEAGUES LEARN MORE FUNDAMENTAL DIVISION Fundamental division is designed to teach your child the rules and fundamentals of the game without the competitive pressures of sports A controlled game simulation will allow all children to experience the game at their own pace Instruction is led by YMCA staff No scheduled games Season is 7 weeks SPORTS AGES T ball Baseball Softball Kindergarten 4th grade Soccer Kindergarten 6th grade Flag Football Kindergarten 6th grade Volleyball 1st 6th grades Basketball Kindergarten 6th grade RECREATIONAL DIVISION Recreational division features seven games per season plus one practice each week Volunteer coaches focus on fundamentals and new skill development All players will play at least 50 of the time Teams are organized by the YMCA SPORTS AGES T ball Baseball Softball 3 years 8th grade Soccer 3 years 8th grade Flag Football Kindergarten 3 years in Iowa 8th grade Volleyball 1st 8th grades Basketball 3 years 12th grade COMPETITIVE DIVISION Nebraska This division is for more skilled players and teams They will be playing with a standard weight volleyball and using standard high school volleyball rules Players in this division should have a good understanding of the game and be able to perform basic skills Participants must pass the competitive assessment Teams will have one practice and one game a week SPORTS AGES Volleyball 5th 8th grades COMPETITIVE TEAM LEAGUE Iowa Participants must be a part of a registering team with a coach This league is for more skilled players and teams Players in this division should have a good understanding of the game and be able to perform the basic skills Teams will have one practice and one game a week Games are played on Saturday and will have a season ending tournament SPORTS AGES Basketball 1st 12th grades Volleyball 5th 12th grade Flag Football 1st 8th grade ADULT SPORTS 5 Pick up basketball games are available at all our locations Check our website for information about open gym times Adult basketball volleyball leagues are available at the Charles E Lakin YMCA Pickleball can be played at the Charles E Lakin YMCA Mills County YMCA Maple Street YMCA and Southwest YMCA Racquetball courts are available at the Downtown YMCA YMCA OF GREATER OMAHA

REACH RISE MENTORING PROGRAM YMCA of Greater Omaha One on One or Group Mentoring Program Reach Rise is a national YMCA program designed to build a better future for youth by helping them reach their full potential through the support of caring adults The Reach Rise One on One Mentoring program supports youth ages 9 17 years The Group Mentoring program supports youth ages 8 15 years in a group setting Youth who lack role models and are in communities challenged by poverty crime and single parent households among other social issues are the ones who benefit the most from the mentoring relationship READY TO LEARN YMCA of Greater Omaha Early Learning Readiness Ready to Learn is a YMCA Early Learning Readiness Achievement Gap Program is designed to provide learning activities to prepare children for kindergarten while teaching their parent or caregiver to be their first and best teacher The program is focused on providing a nurturing educational environment for children and their caregivers to learn together This program takes a multi generational approach by educating and empowering caregivers to be their child s first teacher Children who would have no opportunity to attend preschool prior to starting kindergarten are taught problem solving communication literacy fine motor and personal social skills they need to be school ready The program educators assist the caregiver parent in guiding the child s learning through 13 strategically planned activity centers Structured physical education is also provided in the gym and outdoor playground area As a volunteer mentor you can provide a positive and consistent relationship with a young person helping to improve your mentee s self esteem decision making skills school performance and interpersonal relationships Learn more about the Reach Rise program or how to become a mentor metroymca org support the ymca reach rise Learn more about the Ready to Learn program metroymca org ready to learn 18 www metroymca org
