A PLACE TO BE A PART OF A TEAM YMCA OF GREATER OMAHA LEAGUES FUNDAMENTAL DIVISION Fundamental division is designed to teach your child the rules and fundamentals of the game without the competitive pressures of sports A controlled game simulation will allow all children to experience the game at their own pace Instruction is led by YMCA staff No scheduled games Season is 7 weeks SPORTS AGES T ball Baseball Softball Kindergarten 4th grade Soccer Kindergarten 6th grade Flag Football Kindergarten 6th grade Volleyball 1st 6th grades Basketball Kindergarten 6th grade RECREATIONAL DIVISION Recreational division features a seven game schedule with six games guaranteed per season plus one practice each week Volunteer coaches focus on fundamentals and new skill development All players will play at least 50 of the time Teams are organized by the YMCA SPORTS AGES T ball Baseball Softball 3 years 8th grade Soccer 3 years 8th grade Flag Football Kindergarten 3 years in Iowa 8th grade Volleyball 1st 8th grades Basketball 3 years 12th grade COMPETITIVE DIVISION Nebraska This division is for more skilled players and teams They will be playing with a standard weight volleyball and using standard high school volleyball rules Players in this division should have a good understanding of the game and be able to perform basic skills Participants must pass the competitive assessment Teams will have one practice and one game a week SPORTS AGES Volleyball 5th 8th grades COMPETITIVE TEAM LEAGUE Iowa Participants must be a part of a registering team with a coach This league is for more skilled players and teams Players in this division should have a good understanding of the game and be able to perform the basic skills Teams will have one practice and one game a week Games are played on Saturday and will have a season ending tournament SPORTS AGES Basketball 1st 12th grades Volleyball 5th 12th grade Flag Football 1st 8th grade ADULT SPORTS 5 Pick up basketball games are available at all our locations Check our website for information about open gym times Adult basketball volleyball leagues are available at the Charles E Lakin YMCA Pickleball can be played at the Charles E Lakin YMCA Mills County YMCA Maple Street YMCA Southwest YMCA Twin Rivers YMCA and YMCA Healthy Living Center Racquetball courts are available at the Downtown YMCA YMCA OF GREATER OMAHA

A PLACE TO MOVE LEARN AND THRIVE BUILDING HEALTHY HABITS IN OUR YOUTH The YMCA of Greater Omaha offers many active classes for preschool school age youth Kids develop many of their habits early in life and it s important to make sure they develop active and healthy lifestyles they ll be able to maintain for the rest of their lives The benefits of activities like tumbling classes dance classes and martial arts are far greater than just physical health They provide kids with guidance life lessons about playing with others and developing discipline all while having fun in a safe environment YMCA of Greater Omaha martial arts classes provide kids the confidence that comes from learning and applying themselves to a skill Tumbling classes allow children to let loose and expend energy in a safe controlled environment Dance allows participants to learn about rhythm and timing while creating a lifelong appreciation for movement that is fun Help your child develop their potential and learn healthy habits today YOUTH FITNESS TRAINING Youth members 10 14 years who are interested in keeping themselves fit and healthy by using equipment on the wellness floor can participate in Youth Fitness Training Participants will learn safety proper technique of equipment as well as discussion of character development weight room etiquette basic nutrition and anatomy Led by certified personal trainers Parents do not need to be present for class Sign up at any Welcome Center 15 YMCA OF GREATER OMAHA

McMILLAN MAGNET MIDDLE SCHOOL AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM Located at McMillan Magnet Middle School the Lion s Pride program serves youth in grades 6 8 after school and on out of school days Youth receive homework help tutoring academic enrichment in reading math science arts and physical activity Staff serve as facilitators and adult role models A hot meal is served for dinner each day Offered in collaboration with Collective for Youth POWER SCHOLARS ACADEMY SCHOOL S OUT FUN CLUB In partnership with BELL and Y USA Powers Scholars Academy is a 5 week program that offers summer learning for youth in grades 6 8 The goal is to increase students academic success and boost self confidence while also engaging families in the education process The program is designed to address summer learning loss for children living in urban communities and to enhance overall youth development academic performance and graduation rates This program is offered at McMillan Middle School from 7 00 am 2 00 pm each day during June Many of our locations offer programs for school aged children when school is not in session Children will build values and leadership skills while exploring their potential through activities art field trips games and more Visit our website to learn more about what s offered at each location Information for School s Out Fun Club during inclement weather is released after school district cancellations are announced AFTER SCHOOL FOR KIDS INDIAN HILL ELEMENTARY BELVEDERE ELEMENTARY AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS Many YMCA locations have dedicated spaces for school aged youth too old for Childwatch to hang out These supervised places allow the students somewhere safe to go after school while they have fun stay active or complete their homework Some YMCA location offer school aged youth homework help with programs like Homework Club Located at Indian Hill Elementary School and Belvedere Elementary School the programs serve youth in grades K 6 after school and on out of school days Youth receive homework help tutoring academic enrichment in reading math science arts and physical activity Staff serve as facilitators and adult role models A hot meal is served for dinner each day Offered in collaboration with Collective for Youth BIRTHDAY PARTIES Celebrate with us The Y is your place for birthday parties Host a swimming party or open gym party depending on the YMCA location Call your local YMCA to schedule your party 16 metroymca org
